Eastside Carnival 2018

It was a big day for the Eastend of Swansea city as their annual carnival got going.

Nine big artic lorries with different themes were the main attraction, also, there were flatbeds and a bus that made up this impressive display. Adding to this there were dozens of participants, young and older, depicting all kinds of themes.

The carnival started at the terminus in Port Tennant and then made its way down Danygraig Road to St Thomas and then up to Grenville Park for all the fun of the fair.

The parade was escorted along the streets by a Victorian Policeman from the Glamorgan Constabulary Police Re-enactment Group.

Last year the carnival struggled to get a band but not this year. This year they had two! The leading group was from the  215 City Of Swansea Squadron RAF cadets, and the other group was the Samba Tawe Band from Mumbles.

Hundreds of residents lined the streets to cheer on the procession as it passed their homes, some decorated with bunting. And hundreds more enjoyed the fun fair, theatre and stalls in Grenville Park on a beautiful sunny day.
